You Are All Invited To The Table - Why I Hope Kamala Harris wins the US election.

I am not particularly interested in politics, but as we approach one of the most pivotal U.S elections in economic history, I think most of us here are interested in the outcome. For me, it’s because there is such a stark contrast between the two potential visions for America, (and the world), depending on the outcome.

I see Trump’s rhetoric and approach as a leader as divisive, exclusionary, racially insensitive and one that prioritises  “power over” the people, and his own self serving.

In contrast, Kamala’s approach is inclusionary (you are all invited to the table), empathetic and compassionate. Her approach is people focused and I believe she is genuinely advocating for social justice and systemic healing. It is very clear to me that her commitment to these ideals is not just part of her political stance but rather, speaks to a philosophy of compassion and accountability. This deeply aligns with yogic teachings of collective wellbeing and unity and the principle of “ahimsa” which means non-harming and non-violence to foster peace, respect and kindness. The virtues and principles our world is so desperately in need of right now.

In the U.S, voting is a choice, not a requirement. I have noticed many spiritual leaders and advocates of peace encouraging all citizens to cast their votes with intention and a commitment to a greater good for America, often referring to this action as “your vote is your prayer”. Voting is an act of love and intention - a declaration and it is an opportunity to affirm the kind of future the American people wish to create. I believe that voting for Kamala is a vote by the American people, for a future that promises inclusivity, resilience, healing, unity and a deep commitment to justice.

As the polls close and the results start to come in, I’ll be in transit, but my fingers and my heart are crossed tightly for the American people. I’m holding hope for a future shaped by courage, compassion, and unity, one that Kamala Harris can help lead. Go, Kamala!
